Hey gang -- I'm in the process of repopulating the Wild Texas Featured Events Calendar here.
To see the way events will appear, you can check out one of the events I've already entered --
My first round of additions was from TPWD's Featured Events Calendar. (COMPLETED thru end of February 2008--as far out as TPWD has published their events online.) I will then broaden my search to pull in other events from other public Texas calendars.
Please feel free to submit events that you are aware of -- festivals, outdoor recreation events, celestial happenings (lunar eclipse, meteor shower), etc. -- they will go into a moderation queue for me to check and format properly for the site.
****
NOTE -- You've always had this capability, but there haven't been many events in the calendar to use it on. When viewing any event, you can click the "Request Reminder for this Event" link to schedule when you'd like to receive an email reminding you the event is coming up.
****
Enjoy! And sorry I let the calendar get so far out of currency... I need to hire a bunch of data entry monkeys.![]()

I am amazed ! Another link is the Houston Chronicle Calendar of outdoor events, Dallas has a smaller version so I tend to look at this one

TPWD published events out through the end of May 2008, so I have brought the Wild Texas Calendar up-to-date with all the exciting new TPWD-sponsored events.
[b]Everything from January 2008 through May 2008 is now current (for TPWD events). Don't forget that some dates on the calendar have too many events to display, so you'll need to click the linked date, the number of events (if highlighted, eg: "Events (8)" which means there are eight events falling on that date), or by clicking on the > > symbols on some days, which switches you to week-by-week view. Lots of ways to get to the same info., in other words.
I'll be adding in additional events as time allows, and of course updating when TPWD publishes their next batch of events for the summer months.
Enjoy! Oh, don't forget to click the "Request Reminder for this Event" link on any event you want an email reminder for. No excuses on missing TPWD scheduled hikes, ranger talks, etc., now!
Have a wonderful, wild Texas New Year, ya'll!
