New Forum - TPWD News

I've added a new forum that I think will benefit everyone--our Official TPWD News Forum contains official Texas Parks & Wildlife Department news releases and updates. TPWD makes these available to the public and from now on, the Wild Texas Forums will automatically include them as well.

All official TPWD news posted in our forums will originate from the user "tpwdnews" -- this is an automated account, not one monitored or owned by Texas Parks & Wildlife Department. It's just a simple way to make it clear the post you're reading is official TPWD-provided news or information.

You can visit TPWD's News Release archive to see the types of news and information you can expect in the new forum.

You're welcome to respond to threads in the new forum, by the way! It's not read-only.

Is it just me or do other feel the same way? I'm all for hearing news about Texas Parks & Wildlife. I don't make it to their website as much as I should. But when 70 plus forum posts are fishing reports from TPWD News, I tend to consider that spam.

Deleted the TPWD weekly fishing reports until I can find a better implementation. Thanks for the honest feedback. I do appreciate it. The other TPWD news (which is much lower volume and, I don't think, what folks were perceiving as "spam") will remain as-is.

Good grief! This IS spam. Well intended info for sure, but still spam. There must be hundreds of new fishing reports since my visit here last weekend.

I was thinking the same thing. I like seeing all my unread posts on the home page without having to actually go to the Forums page. I think you can subscribe to whichever ones you are interested in on the TPWD page if I'm not mistaken.

The home page here only shows the ten most recent posts. On a low volume forum like ours, that generally may be all your unread posts, but it's not always the case--such as after Spring Break or other times when lots of folks are returning from and/or planning trips and posting. Just an FYI. That's why there are two links also on the home page to view ALL unread posts or view all new posts in the past 24 hours.
