Camp Meals

We tried a new sausage dish that was very simple,
1.1 pd.of jimmy dean sausage
2.1 med.onion
3.1 bell pepper
4.1 jalpeno med size
5.1 pkg uncle bens wild rice
6.1/2 cup instant rice

brown sausage and keep drippings and onion-bell pepper and jalpeno and cook till soft-add uncle bens and instant rice add water and add 1/2 more cups to make up for instant rice.Cover and cook till rice is tender, almost to where no water is left -serve

This was great quick and easy.

Re: Camp Meals

Just out of curiosity, SRDS, did you throw in a little salt & pepper, or other spices, or is the Jimmy Deans and/or Uncle Bens wild rice spiced enough to not need anything else? It's been years since I've cooked with either of these.

Re: Camp Meals

We just used the seasoning packet in the Uncle Bens,Dw's on low salt diet but it was pretty good,Sausage adds a lot to it also.Brother made it with the sage sausage add that was good also.Dd adds cayenne for the hot taste.I can't do the hot Tum's please. We are going to make it into a sausage stuffing and make it into links (like Boudan) thats what it reminds me of,Without the liver.
