Question Texas Star Party 2007 ?

Just curious if anyone here is planning on attending the 2007 Texas Star Party. Assuming no glitches, I'll be there, as I have for most years since 1989. The Davis Mountains (and Prude Guest Ranch) are always a nice place to be in the spring, or pretty much anytime for that matter. One of these days, I'll get out of Louisiana...

OK - I'll reply to my own message.

I'm sitting here in my room at the Best Western Ozona and will be heading out at dark-thirty in the morning for Fort Davis and the Texas Star Party. It's about time for my annual week of low-humidity livin'... Trouble is, there are lots of clouds forecast for this week (and even some rain - eek!). I guess due to the possibility of inclement weather, I'll just have to come back again next year (and the next, and the next, until I can figure out a way to make a living out here... :-)

Re: Texas Star Party 2007 ?

Actually, yes and no. It's always great to be in the Davis Mountains, but unfortunately we only had a little clear(-ish) weather. Sunday night was good by most standards, although not up to par by west Texas standards. Friday night was OK, but still a little less good. Other than that, there was just an occasional hour here and there, mostly not. One day, it didn't even get out of the 50s, with low scud, fog and occasional rain elsewhere.

We went down to Big Bend one day and hiked up the Pinnacles Trail looking for the Colima Warbler, which lives at 6500' and above. We found one in the top of a tree at 6572' :-) Being the Louisiana mountaineer that I am (NOT!), I was walking like Fred Sanford the next day (following 5.5 miles in 2.5 hours, 1200' up and down).

All in all, it's always fun, but more clear skies would have made it much nicer. I'll be back next year with my family, first week in June.

Thanks for asking!
