Perseid Meteor Shower

Those of you that like to gaze at meteor showers should be thinking about reserving an open area, perhaps at a state park, for the peak showing on August 12th and 13th. The full moon, which will be waning from the 9th, will have some effect on the less-than-totally-dark sky. :asleep:

Re: Perseid Meteor Shower

Wow, thanks for the reminder. I'll never forget the first time I saw this. We were laying out in Bastrop watching the sky in the late 60s. We thought we were being attacked by aliens.

Re: Perseid Meteor Shower

I saw the Perseid back in 1986 from Padre Island, looking east, and it was awesome - a most magical moment, as I was pregnant with my son and just feeling butterfly kicks. Seemed like a sign from heaven. Was it? My son, now 19, is a righteous man among men, a real blessing.
