Long Distance "Communication"

Talk about taking a long time to get news when you live out in the boonies -- astronomers have just detected (on September 4, 2005) a massive gamma ray burst from the edge of the visible universe. This means the burst we just detected occurred around 13 billion years ago, and at the speed of light we are just now finding out about it.

The universe is an estimated 13.7 billion years old, so we're talking about some really old news!

The Article: Distant cosmic explosion detected {CNN}
