Cedar Lake/Cleburne State Park
On Friday, I loaded up the kayak and bike and spent the afternoon at Cleburne State Park, for the first time. It's 38 miles from my front door, and I just wanted to try a new lake. One attraction is the "no wake/5 mph limit" on boats.
The lake is small but perfect for kayaking. You can easily go across or explore the perimeter, as I did. There are some places to beach opposite from the boat ramp and camping areas, if you want to explore. I think you wouldn't go far before hitting a trailer camping area, and there's not much in the way of trails, but at least it's there.
I saw people fishing from shore and in boats - no one seemed to be catching anything.
One reason for my trip was to make a "dry run" - pardon the pun - of my trailer/packing/etc. I did find one problem which I think I've fixed, so I'm glad I did that before trying a longer trip like I plan this summer.
