I've always been fascinated by this area. I've seen many pictures of canoes, and wondered if only rental canoes are allowed, or can we take our own kayaks out on this lake?
Also, if anyone has any hints on camping areas, put-in locations, places to see, I would like to hear them. I would either go at the end of summer or early fall.

You will find all types of boats on Caddo lake. Yes you can bring your own boats. I would recommend the State Park for access although there many others.

On a side note there was an interesting segment on the news about caddo. They have stretched 2 miles of orange netting across the lake in a effort to stop or at least control an invasive water plant that has gotten started in the lake.
