    Renting a camper?

We're thinking of going camping during Thanksgiving. My FIL wants to rent a camper for him & my MIL. Where can he rent one or can you? They live near New Braunfels & we're going camping at Inks?

    Thank you for any help!!!!

    Hi Kelly,

There are alot of things to consider before renting a camper?

Do you have a tow vehicle capable of towing a camper? Vehicle size and weight ratings would have alot to do with whether you could even tow a camper, let alone what size. Does it have a brake controller? a 7-pin electric connection etc.

If you are considering renting a Class C or Class A recreational vehicle, does someone have experience driving a vehicle of that size? It is a learned skill.

Why don't you just to rent a cabin at Inks'. Reserve now for November!

    Sincerely,
    Wendy

Hmmm? Didn't know that "Campers4Rent" did anything with towables. Thought they rented mostly "C" Class and they are not much more difficult to drive then a lage van. Still, if your not familiar with them, you could spend most of the trip figuring out how the systems work (Robin Williams was NOT far off in "RV"). Wendy's idea of a Mini-Cabin at Inks is not a bad one at all. Great park with great facilities.

    Just my !

    Re: Renting a camper?

My FIL is qualified for pulling a camper & has the truck to pull it. He just doesn't know where to rent a camper. He's looking for a 25 ft (w/ toilet).

**What are "mini cabins" at Inks? I saw that on the map & wasn't sure.

Thanks for your help!! It's always appreciated!!!

*** Looked up Campers4Rent - that is out of Lewisville. I need something near New Braunfels in which I found www.rvusa.com & then found one rental out of NB & one in Buda. NB is Evergreen RV. Has anyone used them?

For a good article on Inks and the cabins, they looked ok at Cooper Lake but no toilet inside

Explore USA is on 281 between canyon lake and san antonio. They rent RVs, and it's not to far south of Inks. I don't know about the prices but the internet can give you loads of info, just surf a little.

Is the FIL or MIL military? friends have rented a Casita from Fort Sam and from Randolph AFB for 25 a night. For that price, I'd never buy one, I'd just rent one of those.

The cabins at Inks are cinder block with concrete floor. THere are windows with screens which open, inside is a ceiling fan, light and AC unit. There are 2 bunks with vinyl wrapped twin mattresses, square table with 4 chairs. Outside is a picnic table, fire pit and lantern stand, water and electric.

We did our first Thanksgiving of camping last year. The in laws came up for the day. Who needs to use the fancy dishes and eat in the dining room?

    Re: Renting a camper?

CANCEL the camper. FIL looked into it & it's just too expensive right now.

But we do plan on having Thanksgiving at some campground along Hwy 67 or Hwy 281. In-laws want a cabin but my family will be in a tent!!

Thank you for all your help!!

p.s. Inks cabins are already booked (by someone else).
