Smile Howdy from East Texas!!

My name is Marti and we have just upgraded from a PopUp to a Skyline Weekender! We've been camping for several years and have certainly enjoyed every one of them.....I've also met some great new friends in a PopUp forum but now I need to move on to meeting even more new friends that have trailers......

We are still learning new things about camping and are looking forward to our first campout (this weekend) in our new trailer.....

Blessings to all,
Marti

My wife and I are in the Crockett area. Where do you live and where is your first trip going to be
And remember.......empty nesters are supposed to camp through the week and avoid those crowds

Yes, I know, I know.... ....but, we both still have to work....ugh...we do however get six weeks vacation and we still have four more to go. We'll be headed to Beaver's Bend in September, and since we have never camped at Dangerfield, we may go there in August....

Marti, isn't that the park up in OK at the southeastern end? Haven't been there but if it's the one I'm thinking of, I've heard a lot of good talk about it. Be sure to post a review when you return.

Happy Camping!

Good Job

We were going to go to Tyler a couple of weeks ago but the premium sites were booked. Daingerfield was a nice little park. We did not like the pull thru section and chose a small loop with a few sites.

The wife and I are talking about trip tp Possum Kingdom? Anyone have info on it??

Well, actually, we do most of our camping

in the Fall, Winter and Spring...but hey, when ya gotta go, ya gotta go! Crowds and all

We've never been to Possum Kingdom but have heard that it's really nice.

Now then, about Beaver's Bend...YES!!! This is our most favorite place to go....we love the mountains, the river and the neat people that we meet there....always a lot of friendly folks...at least where we camp. There are several different areas but we always camp at the main camp ground.

If you are interested you can find out more at beaversbend(dot)com (this message won't let me add this as a link? What's up wth that?) and if you'd like to check out our website (URL is in my signature), we have pictures from some of our camping trips there as well...

Re: Howdy from East Texas!!

Thanks, Marti!

As far as Possum Kingdom SP goes, we took a look at it about 15 years ago. Very nice park with a large amount of deer and other wildlife. Only thing we didn't like was that the sites were rather small and close together. Park is pretty open with little privacy (comparing to Mineral Wells SP). We were tent camping at the time and if I recall correctly, the only place we could get in to now is a circle they built for "5th's" and other larger rigs. As I've said elsewhere, I can't help but feel that this park was built for the many fisherman that frequent this lake. Nice park that many like but not the kind of place we're likely to return.

Hope this helps and happy camping!

That's to bad. We despise the stack em and pack em parks
We heard the water quality at the lake was great and hoped we could find a nice spot. We were told crowds were a problem but figured we could live with that if they had some space? Maybe we can find a private park?? Thanks for the info and will try to check it out a little more.

Re: Howdy from East Texas!!

Beavers Bend is a fun place, close quarters in the trailer area and they wont make a reservation on the ph...We had a few nice nights and then a family or families of about 12 ppl dropped in and it was never quiet after. They had tents up everywhere and a TT.Since we last went our 2 sons and families were able to get reservations.
