Texas Wildflowers

Justin and I haven't done our annual wildflower viewing excursion yet, and may not get around to it this year at this rate, but here are some good threads I came upon this evening to help you plan your own trips:See our Web Guide for more links:

Any good sites I missed? Share them!

Graybeard,

It's been my experience that you CAN'T go wrong with a visit to McKinney Falls State Park, near Austin, Texas. Every Spring that we've visited this park we've been impressed with beautiful fields of bluebonnets.

Thumbs up Spring Wildflowers 2003

It's time again for SPRING WILDFLOWERS here in Texas, as you have no doubt noticed along the highway medians and country fields.

Here's a bunch of resources wildflower watchers should check out to plan wildflower excursions and photo opportunities. If you have a favorite resource I didn't mention, or a favorite place to take wildflower photos, please share it!

Our Web Guide's "Wildflowers & Fall Foliage" section is a good start for keeping tabs on where the flowers are!

Among the sites I personally check before heading out to take wildflower photos, these are my most trusted resources:
Also: Beginning the last two weeks of March, the TxDOT Travel Information line (1-800-452-9292) becomes the Wildflower Hotline, providing the latest scoop on where to see the most colorful flowers.

Another Texas wildflower link I neglected to share (because I forgot!)

Texas Department of Transporation (TxDOT) Wildflower Reports along major Texas roadways/interstates.

Enjoy!
