Powderpuff? I'm not a wildflower expert, but I've never heard of a wildflower named the "powderpuff". Do you have a photo you could share with us, or web address where you have seen a photo of this flower?

The Texas wildflower I can think of that I'd describe as a "powderpuff" is the Texas thistle. Is this what the flower you're asking about looks like?

Re: Powderpuffs

Yes, there is a powderpuff flower and it is not a thistle. You may see some photos that I just took of this tiny, tiny flower at my online gallery, Spring Flowers in Texas (2), http://kayjones.smugmug.com/gallery/488058/1/19882608. There are 6 photos posted in that gallery of powderpuffs. You can also see photos of them at the Institute of Systematic Botany, http://www.plantatlas.usf.edu/images.asp?plantID=2162#. Good luck with your project!

Re: help

If you'll log on to any University biology department
under botany and send in a photograph of the flower
you can often get responses. It helps to have some
leaves included if possible. Sul Ross State has helped
me before.
