Question Canon A80 or Canon A75

I can't decide between these two cameras. Here's the issue. The A80 is 4MP and has a swivel LCD screen and a 320 x 240 movie mode. The A75 has a larger brighter LCD screen (non-swivel), 3.2 MP and a 640 x 480 movie mode.

I'm really leaning toward the newer A75 because of the larger movie mode. Is .8 more MP and a swivel screen greater in value than a movie mode thats two times larger?

Re: Canon A80 or Canon A75

I have an A80, I love it! It is a great camera. The swivel LCD is very convenient, I don't think I could live without one now! The LCD is just to make sure the picture came out the way you want it anway, not to view you pictures all the time. That's what you computer is for If you get the Powerex 2200mAh NiMH rechargeable batteries for it, you will be set!! They last forever. I have three sets for mine and I have never run out on a bping trip.

I dropped my camera down a 60' cliff and it landed in a pile of rocks, the lens was open, and the LCD was open. It still works perfectly! I seriously recommend the A80. The digital zoom works pretty good too. Better than some others I have seen, plus it will work better with a higher megapixel.

I don't know if the A75 has the full manual mode or not, but that's the only mode I really use, other than the panorama mode. I love to be able to set my pictures up the way I want them. The A80 is definitely a versatile camera for the money!

Hoipe this helps!

Talking Re: Canon A80 or Canon A75

Thanks for the advice! After extensive research, I went with the A80. I got my for $249.00...timing just worked out great. Canon has moved on with the production of the A80's replacement, the A95, so I was able to get one of the last of the A80s from Amazon at a great price.

So far, I just love the camera. I don't think you can get 'more' camera for the money.

Plus, as I understand the A80 has the same sensor and pixel count as the G3 and it just make for a perfect 'sweet' mix.

Now...I just need to post some of my pictures in the gallery section here!
