I know this has made the rounds of the blogosphere already, but since I just rediscovered it this morning --

Camera Toss: a growing collection of beautiful/unique photos taken simply by people willing to toss their cameras in the air!

It's proof that you should never stop seeing things in new ways.

Obviously, this should only be done old and/or cheap point-and-shoot digital number, *not* your pride and joy digital camera, due to the inherent risks.

I tried this "method" of photographing this afternoon with one of our older, palm-sized digital cameras Canon Powershot A520 ($175) -- tossed the camera less than 2.5 feet in the air over a King-size mattress with comforter and pillows, and the results are nothing if not interesting.


Would I continue doing this with this camera? Probably not... if I were interested in further exploring the method, I'd buy a nice, small used digicam off eBay at a bargain and have no qualms if something happened to it in the course of fun, creative, artistic experimentation.

Hehe... You're right, a kid was probably the first to *do* it. I always enjoy seeing photos taken by youngsters -- you know, the knee cap or below view of the world, and often taken at a skewed angle.

Not surprisingly, not every toss of the camera results in anything particularly interesting -- just blurry. The most intriguing shots I've found involve people who have perfected a technique of tossing their cameras with a good bit of spin. Obviously, not for the faint of heart or more treasured of cameras...

nice pics... ... I will need to get a cheap camera for this one ..

I would hate to drink a few too many beers and tose up my camera and break my Canon digital rebel but i will try it on a cheapeee.. thanks for the pics!!
