My son & I are trying out camping this coming weekend for the first time. He is 9. We are only going one night at LLSP to get our feet wet, so to speak. I already have the tent & mattresses.

Questions: what should I NOT forget to pack? I already have a first-aid kit & snacks/drinks planned out.

We are going to try to take our bikes. Are there places to ride?

I'd like to do the horseback ride with the hamburger meal. Are these rides any good?

Anything else I'd need to know for this first excursion or this particular park?

Seeing it is Spring Break it should be somewhat crowded. it is a real nice state park with a lookout tower, store, paddle boats and canoes. There is a pool (surely not open now) and a fair amount of bike trails.
We have spent a lot of time and really enjoy it.. They have premium sites on the water that are really spacious.

The horse back ride and dinner is great for the kids. Typical trained horse walk... They used to have a dance on weekends....not sure about now. Really a nice park..enjoy!!
