just got back from tubing the frio, what an awesome experience, i love the hill country as it is, but floating down the river.....just incredible. we put in at the 1120 crossing and went down to yeargins river bend where we stayed.....if anyone has any information on other areas of the river they have experienced please let me know as i am looking to do this again real soon and often.
and of course my next spot will be the guadalupe river, so anything pro or con, there is nothing like personal experiences.

The water thru Garner seemed low but was still nice for swimming and soaking. I haven't toobed the Guadalupe in years. Check with Rockin R rentals in Gruene for river information.

You know, the San Marcos is nice for toobing and swimming. It's clean and clear, spring fed 72 degrees. I've put in some hours on the river while in school there. ( also years ago ). If you come this way and want to plan a small road trip, checkin out the local spots, I bet we could all give you some great ideas. Bats under the bridge in Austin, toobing the San Marcos, schlitterbahn or toobing in New Braunfels, hike Enchanted Rock, Swim Devil;'s Waterhole at Inks, Soak at Guadalupe RSP. How much time do you have on your hands for your next trip? Now I'm thinkin about what I can do for my next trip.............

If you are doing a day trip, then float the horseshoe by Sattler. (Guadelupe)
It is a nice float and if you want to go further, shuttle service is available.

We've stayed at Neal's Lodge in Concan a couple of times about 8 miles downriver from Garner. They shuttle you for a couple of bucks for a 2-3 hour trip but beware! If water is low you will WALK the Frio not float it! Still the prettiest river in Texas no matter the water level! Be sure to check out the flood pictures at the store!
