Actually I meant a standing break where the pack never comes off as I reach for my water bottle in a side mesh pocket. Then I lean on my hiking staff to catch my breath on the way up a ridge. (Doesn't sound like Texas, does it? ) The break usually takes from 3 to 5 minutes and the muscles don't have a chance to stiffen.
