Love the pictures! Looked like a fun time. I homeschool our dd9 and next year we do Texas History which I can't wait for! We sure won't miss the celebration next year!
On Saturday March 3, we went to see the celebration of the 176th Anniversary of signing of the Texas Declaration of Independence from Mexico at Washington on the Brazos.
We went early to look for two geocache's in the park, found one (see the slide show) but the other was missing (and the park is aware of that). We wandered around the pond and nature trail before heading up to all the activities We stopped first at the camp near the Brazos river overlook, meeting some friends from Montgomery, we started walking around
After the camp headed up hill to the LOUD firing demonstration, which include small arms and artillery
We wonderered over to another camp and Anson Jones kitchen (quick who was Anson Jones ???) and the walked to Barrington farm and listened to some music
Lots of demonstrations going on and crafts all over.
Got to meet Tippy and Tex the oxen
then walked back up for Turkey Leg, blooming onion and sausagesome good eating
after we toured the neat gift shop $$$ then the museum
great time highly recommend this for all, they have another event on March 17 I believe
If you want more pictures here they are
Slideshow of pictures, photos, and videos, from webshots
