suggestions for a romantic, beautiful parks? waterfalls a plus.

I need some suggestions for some really beautiful romantic parks to go to.

Preferred a few a hours away from San Antonio.

If there's some pretty waterfalls, it'll be a plus.

Camping - right now preferred drive up sites or a short walk. Amenities not neccessary, although water would be a plus.

Doesn't have to be always quiet, but if there's some sollitude/quietness in the park, or it's possible to get to that, it'll be great.

Waterfalls are few and far between, and dependent on rainfall amounts to sustain them, but here are a couple options --

Pedernales Falls State Park,
McKinney Falls State Park,
and -- not open to camping/overnight visitation -- Hamilton Pool Preserve.

Thanks, I've been to hamilton pool.

Waterfalls are nice but not a necessity, I am most looking for semi quiet parks with beautiful scenery and a semi romantic feel.

Krause Springs outside of Austin might be what you're looking for. Never camped there but visited for the day a couple years ago. It had beautiful waterfalls and nice secluded swimming holes.

for more information check out this link:

Hope that helps some.

Colorado Bend State Park has the Gorman Falls. It is outside of Bend, TX and is not very developed. No reservations accepted, so its first-come first-served for camping. Must make reservations for the cave or waterfall guided tour. This is to protect this environmentally unique niche of the hill country.

There is also a little park in Bend that has a spring-fed lake with a waterfall that flows year round.

The state park has 15.8 miles of hiking trails and 14 miles of mountain bike trails. When Lake Buchanan is near normal level, the trip from park to Lake Buchannan is 10-mile trip through the beautiful canyon lands of the Colorado.

Re: suggestions for a romantic, beautiful parks? waterfalls a plus.

Romance is in the heart(s) of the beholder(s).

As for semi-quiet, if you don't mind a primitive (not drinking water, no indoor plumbing) campsite, I highly recommend Hill Country State Natural Area in Bandera, TX. There are campsites that are a short (few hundred yards) walk from your car, or multi-mile (about 2-3 mile) hike-in campsites -- I've camped in the former and had peaceful, relaxing multi-night camping but the primitive sites are even nicer -- I always make it a point to hike by them during hiking and mountain biking trips, and often they're all available.

Anywhere can be romantic, though. Some of our fondest memories are of funny things that happened when we were in less than optimal campsites... like our Enchanted Rock SNA campout on a Wednesday and Thursday night (we thought those would be the best days to avoid crowds during the school year). Instead, several school buses from a Texas school district descended upon the park and stayed both nights, including the first night when two huge camps of teenagers from the group sang "99 bottles of beer on the wall" all the way from 99 to 1... anytime we're surprised by something now, it's not uncommon for one of us to mutter, "I can't believe they sang it ALL THE WAY THROUGH!" Sure, we didn't sleep well that night and it was highly annoying, but memories are romantic too -- shared history and experiences -- even when they're nothing more than a temporary annoyance shared with someone you care about.

18 years together, and counting (incl. 8 years as husband & wife)
