South Llano River, August 7,8,9, & 10

After work Thursday, we took off, arriving just before sunset. We got a site I had wanted for some time but it was always booked.
The weather was very pleasant, breezy with shade. We stayed at the site, "Chillin'" until noon each day. We had deer and turkey at least once a day visit the site. The river was flowing well, and was quite crowded Saturday afternoon near the river crossing. We ran into some folks who live in our subdivision, and the kids go to school together. Small world.
The people in a trailer next to us has company come to stay and they had VERY spoiled toddlers who weren't campers. They kept pounding on the door to be let inside. They ordered their dad around, and mother also. Who is running the show over there? I don't have to listen to that so we got another site and broke camp for the last night, and moved 20 sites away. They weren't being loud, like that the ranger could go get after them, it's just that they had poor parenting skills and were making the toddlers stay outside, while they sat in the AC, and they had spoiled their kids and had no control over them. EWW. That was worth breaking camp and moving.
My son did manage to sit in fire ants. I caught him repeatedly scratching his.... biscuits. After telling him over and over, he said, I can't help it, they're itchy. In one of those Mom-moments, I inspected further and noticed the cause and had a hearty laugh about it. We both felt that a squirt of bug spray would help. Turns out, it did; After setting his ass on fire for a few minutes before we could wipe it off. I asked well, do they itch any more? NO.
We watched almost every DVD my son brought, we ate all food, except for the tortilla chips which were shared with "Bruno, Jane Doe, and Bambi". "Jane" was sleeping in the tall grass behind our site, 45, and jumped up and came half way to the table when I opened the tortilla chip bag. Bruno was quick to join dinner. Now to most people, all deer look the same. How can anyone tell one from another? Their faces have a very straight profile, all except Bruno. He looks like a fighter who had his nose broken one to many times. I gave him the name last spring when I first noticed him. It was nice to see him again. You just never know what happens to those little guys. He is a 6 point in velvet right now.
Anyways, another relaxing trip to South Llano with a sunburn to prove it.
