Solar shields for pop up campers

    Hello everyone,

We just got back from our vacation. We went to San Antonio and Galveston. We did not take the TT as I was trying to save money on fuel and with the price it only cost about a hundred more dollars to stay in a hotel all week. Anyway, we stopped by Galveston Island State Park while we were in Galveston to check it out. It seemed like a nice park and my wife and I said that next time we go there we will take the TT and stay there. One thing we saw was that several of the pop up campers had a solar shield simular to the ones that you put in your car windshield. We stopped and talked to one family and was told that we could find them online. She said that they had just bought the two they had for this trip. She also told me that they make this trip every year and that she truely has noticed a difference. Having a hybrid trailer, I was wanting to know if anyone knows what I am talking about and where to find them. If anyone can help me out on this I would be very thankful.

You mean that there is some place else to get them:eekeek:??? Get them at PopUpGizmos! They've been in business for a good many years and make all their products right here in the Great State of Texas!!! I don't know of anyone who has ever had a complaint against one of their products. They are featured on both Pop-Up-Times messageboard and PopUpExplorer. Good people making good products.

PS: I have one of their AC cover braces. Worked just as it was designed. It was on our last pup and now rides on the AC on our "5th".

Are you talking about covers for the bed ends? If so, go to PopUp Explorer - The ultimate pop up camper web site. They are called "pop up gizmos" or PUGs for short & they're sold on that site. They are made to order size-wise and people swear by them.

OR.... you can go the cheaper route. At Cabela's (which is the only place I've found that carries the GOOD blankets), buy some 'solar blankets'. They are either red or green on one side & silver on the other. One blanket will cover a full-size bunk end. If you have bigger bunk ends, buy several blankets ($13 each) and cut & sew a cover to fit. Attach with bungee cords on the corners & you're good to go.

Some people use 'reflextic' in their windows which is like the car windshield panels you can buy. I believe you can get this at Home Depot, Lowe's, etc. They cut 'panels' to fit into their windows for extra sun shades.

I also like the fact that they help keep the bunk end darker in the mournings.People are even using them to cover ice chest to make ice last longer.
