REason to Buy TX. State Park Pass

You get the FREE year's subscription to Texas Park & Wildlife if you purchase your pass before June 2006. That's one reason

Reason #2: I just got my official pass in the mail & included with it were 4 coupons good for 50% off 1 night of camping at ANY state park! Good for any campsite or screened shelter. At the minimum, this will be a savings of nearly $30!!

So..... what are you waiting for??!!!!!

Hehe... we renewed ours weekend before last, at Guadalupe River State Park near our home.

You can also buy the passes at any REI store and save 10% if you're a REI Co-Op member.

We always buy ours, one for each car. Is the subscription a new give away? Never saw that before.

Also, remember that Pittman Robertsonhttp://www.animallaw.info/statutes/stusfd16usc669.htm means that all the money from hunting licenses goes directly to support TPWD and can not be diverted into the general fund.

Yep. Started it last year just after we renewed. Don't know if it's going to continue through this year but will see.

Happy Camping!

Fortunately now, the window stickers are gone and one pass covers ANY car you decide to drive into the park.

Justin and I also buy two cards because we aren't always together or in the same vehicle when we visit a park. Besides, the money goes to TPWD and supports our parks, so we view it as money to a good cause.

I'm all for giving to good causes. Was only pointing out that the "one pass fits one car" rule was no longer in effect.

For us, that's an added benefit as we do not always wish to take our behemoth (aka, Ford Expedition) each time we visit the local parks.

Gotcha! The hang tags are much better -- more convenient, indeed. Although before we got into the habit of buying two, there were one or two occasions we drove all the way to a park and discovered we hadn't grabbed the tag out of our other vehicle. Another reason for us buying two these days.

Re: REason to Buy TX. State Park Pass

Good point. I always carry my card in my wallet. On only one occasion was it suggested to me by the park staff that I use a hanger. Any other time, I'll just flash the card and I'm good to go.

Speaking of good causes, I'm still baffled by the fact that TPWD offers no special license plates for trailer's as they do for motorized vehicles (bluebonnet, horned toad, etc.)... given the plethora of pop ups, travel trailers, and fifth wheels I've seen in the parks in recent years.

Besides, we each get one in our name..makes me feel special.

As an aside, remember to not leave the hang tag facing forward, any jerk could get your name from it while you were parked.. specially you ladies.

See y'all,

See y'all,
Never worried about that, but it does bother me a bit all the info one has to write down and display in the vehicle when hiking or mountain biking at Government Canyon State Natural Area -- name, address, phone number, trail(s) intending to hike... I'd rather be asked to register at the ranger station, even for hiking and mountain biking, than display that... and yet, I do. Though I haven't been solo to Government Canyon SNA, yet. Always have Justin and/or other hiking/biking friends with me.
