Private Camp ground near Colorado Bend SP

    Hi all!!

A couple weeks ago someone (Thorn, I believe) wrote about a private campground near Colorado Bend State Park called Sulphur Springs Inc (www.bendtexas.com) ...
I was wondering if anyone else has been there and what their experience may have been. I noticed from the website that they don't take reservations for tent camping, is this going to be a big issue in the next month or two? I'm worried that if the white bass start running good that maybe the camp grounds will fill up fast. Opinions?

What about Colorado Bend SP? Do they generally fill up during this time of the year? How is the fishing out there? Are all the campsites 'primitive'? Do they have any showers in the park?

We mostly do 'car camping' and like to have spots where we're not right up on top of our neighbors. Oh and really prefer to be able to have FIRE.

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!!

    Thanks!

    I can't help you with S.S. campgrounds.
Colorado Bend is all primitive. It has no showers. Check out the parks and wildlife site. It will show all that CB has to offer. The park fills up when the fish are biting. The fishing is good if you catch the run.

Here is a blog post I did about Colorado Springs SP. This park was two large ranches and the ammenities are few. If you are in a large group, its fine. You hike your patooties off if you want to see the sites.

in San Saba, Mill Pond Park includes a small spring fed lake, waterfalls, swimming pool and picnic sites, a pavilion, tennis courts and playground equipment. Hookups for recreational vehicles are also available. The park is five blocks east of the courthouse. They do not take reservations, but you can call city hall to ask if there are any available.

I do not know about that other park. Seems like I called them one time and they sounded nice. Call and talk to them. Tourism is the lifeblood of these small campgrounds.
