Online Email Reservations

Quick question - always before we have made our reservations for the SPs thru Reserve America, but I understand that they are no longer recommended. So as I was looking at the email reservation procedure at the State Parks I had a question. If you email your reservation (using the SPs reservation form) do you not get any kind of confirmation that the reservation has been accepted - except for the charge to your card? That is what it appears to me the website is saying. It only mentions a return email if your reservation cannot be processed. Seems a little scary to me to head out for 2 weeks and not have any kind of proof of reservation in hand except my credit card bill. We never had any problems with Reserve America in the past and I always received a confirmation email from them that I printed out and took with us on the trip. It came in handy on more than one occassion. Just wondering what others experiences have been with using the email reservations.

Re: Online Email Reservations

I have used both online and calling the regular number and if I did not get an email confirmation I sent one to them asking for one. The site says

E-mail Reservations
Request or cancel reservations 24 hours a day, 7 days a week
Use a credit card to process your reservation
Receive confirmation of your reservation within 2 business days. like I said above if I do not get confirmation I email https://www2.tpwd.state.tx.us/busine...52Findex.phtml
I choose other and list my dates and park and ask for a confirmation

The regular number is 512/389-8900 weekdays

Re: Online Email Reservations

I always reserve for SPs via telephone. Always receive e-mail confirmation within a day or so. Would expect the same thing to be true if you reserve on-line.

Happy Camping!

Re: Online Email Reservations

Reserve America is a great resource to determine if anything is still available. We've never had a problem using that method. I particularly appreciate the instant gratification of knowing I've got the site, no waiting on hold, no waiting for an email response.

I've booked road trips by phone. The hold time was long so I chose the "call you back" option. I had my list of dates and calendar handy for when they did call back. From what I've heard, don't try to call on a Monday. I booked our June trip of Abilene, Caprock, Palo Duro, Lake Colorado City, and South Llano by phone, and July trip of South Llano, Davis Mountains, and South Llano by phone. I was concerned they might miss a date or overlap by mistake since there are multiple parks. No problems.

I've also booked by email, after seeing there was availability on RA, and I had the time to wait 2 days to confirm. Since there were plenty of sites, I didn't need to grab them up, I kept my reservation fee for myself instead of giving it to RA. This method also works when I need multiple sites for Scout camp outs.
