Damn. The Texas Parks & Wildlife Expo in Austin will not be held this year or in 2010 due to budget constraints.

It will be missed and it will be interesting to see what they plan to do instead as the article implies

Maybe they didn't market it correctly should have gotten a sponser name like the ball parks do

I saw the memo from Carter Smith to TPWD employees and it was the sponsors and exhibitors pulling out or cutting back their plans that caused it to be cancelled. TPWD doesn't have the budget to pick up the slack where the sponsors and vendors fell off and didn't want to put on an EXPO that wasn't up to the quality expected by those attending. Sad situation, but from the sounds of it, he made the right choice.
