I was hiking in my favorite state park the other day and ran across a new trail way up in the north end of the park. It basically parallels the northeast end of the loop. It snakes up a nice hillside and follows a ridge over to where it runs into an old unofficial trail everybody was using anyway that follows the edge of the back hill.
They call it the Crosstimbers Trail - not to be confused with the real Crosstimbers Trail. It is the first official trail in the park that gets up on the hilltops and has a view. There are some spots along it that would make great campsites - we can always dream.
If you haven't been, this park has some nice campgrounds and shelters and a technical rock climbing area. These are usually crowded. There's a lake I love to kayak. The back country area has a nice ~9 mile loop and a nice primitive camping area about 3 miles down the trail. The backcountry is rarely crowded and I usually don't see anybody.
