OK I know this is a Texas forum but I'm scratching for info here.

I'm considering a trip there the week before Christmas. Dec. 15 to 23. Questions:

(1) What are the temps likely to be like? Averages?
(2) Where is the closest place to there to drive to 'see snow/play in snow' for my almost-10YO?
(3) I know about Carlsbad Caverns and Roswell. What other things would be fun/neat/adventuresome to do while we're there?

Thanks for all your help! I have a pop-up so need electricity/water sites. Oh, would I need to 'winterize' the Pup to stay that long? Any suggestions?

You only need to winterize if you anticipate any freezing of your water lines. If they're inside your popup, they should be fine while you're camping. If they run beneath the trailer, I'd be concerned. In this case, if you really need to use the water, I would pack a blow-out plug and an air compressor just in case the temperature decides to take a nosedive. You gotta see Guadalupe Peak. They'll be skiing in Ruidoso and may have snow in Cloudcroft. That's not really close, but Cloudcroft is cute and you can drop off the back side and see the White Sands. There's mostly a whole lot of nothing out there.

The weather will be cold at night, maybe close to 70 during the day. Occasionally big snow storms blow up. Cross your fingers.
