Lake Somerville - Birch Creek or Nails Creek

My family has asked me to look into planning a group camping trip this summer. I was asked to look into Lake Somerville since it is closer to Houston, but I have never been there. We would mostly be swimming, hiking, or bike riding. Which unit is better for swimming Birch Creek or Nails Creek?
