The park is in the middle of no where. It seems it is geared more for people with campers ( so you don';t have to use the old, dirty, bug ridden restrooms} and boats and jet skis. There is no shade, Palo Duro offered more shade than that. We did swim at the beach. The lake bottom was mud, the shoreline covered with fire ants. You couldn't sit out, you had to be in the water. Another swimmer told us that they had an algae problem a couple years ago and all the fish died. No wonder the convenience store at the park entrance was vacant and dilapidated. We didn't even stay to prepare breakfast in the morning. We were on the highway by 9am.
We stopped at a convenience store in Snyder to use the restroom. While I waited for my son, I noticed the packaging on the jello looked old. There wasn't even a freshness date on it. Many things were like that. I found a box of Betty crocker potatoes au gratin. There was information about a contest for Betty crocker and you had to have your entry mailed by OCT 31, 1995. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHH, That is 8 years past it's shelf life. Here's a tip, don't buy groceries at a gas station in a small town. No one apparently cares that the food is old.
