Lake Brownwood SP

ALthough I've lived near Brownwood almost all of my life, I've only visited the SP park once, briefly. Now I've managed to hook the wife and kids on camping and hiking, so a trip is in order.

Our tent has a malfunctioning door zipper so we were curious about the cabins.

Also, the park map causes me to wonder how much hiking is available.

Any help?

Re: Lake Brownwood SP

I have never been there but there was an article in Tx Parks and Wildlife Magazine about the best cabins in Texas and Lake Brownwood got a mention:

Re: Lake Brownwood SP

The cabins at Brownwood are very nice, rustic cabins built in the 1930's. They have them for couples on up to small groups. Some of the cabins are back secluded in the woods, while 4 or so have nice views over the lake from a bluff. While they have that old look, the insides are pretty nice. Not a Hyatt, but very nice an clean. Brownwood is one of my favorite spots to go and I have stayed in the cabins, the shelters, and golly even a tent!

Go and enjoy. Not a lot of secluded hiking, but enough for a little leg stretching.
