Thumbs up Lake Bob Sandlin SP (May 2009)

This was our last three nights of a full week of camping and Bob Sandlin was a great stop. Lake Bob Sandlin is located in East Texas some where near nowhere and nobody, just kidding it seemed that way. Close towns include Mt. Vernon and Mt. Pleasant both located on Interstate 30 100 miles or so East of Dallas. Camping includes 75 water electric sites,12 screened shelters, 8 cabins and some primitive sites. The park also has swimming, a lighted fish pier, and a boat ramp.

Took a nice long hike with my new trecking poles to practice for this summer and I love them. My legs and knees were not tired despite some up and down and around the piney woods.

Park was very quiet, even on Friday it was no where near full with real nice weather to boot.

Will warn you that woodpeckers do eat early some mornings, but aside from that, enjoyed the park and recommend it.

One other add, the picnic area by the trout lake was part of an eagle scout project and a number of benches were put in to sit and enjoy the view !

Great slideshow and thanks for posting the link. Bob Sandlin is a park we have been meaning to visit but never seem to make it over that way.
