It's Too Hot! (Or is it just me?)

We bought a pop up camper in May and have only used it twice thus far. It has AC and we have popupgizmos to deflect heat off the bunk end, but its not the inside temp that's the issue.

It's just that its too darn hot lately to want to be outside all day long.

Am I alone in this? We've got lots of trips we'd like to take later in the year, but it sure would be great to take advantage of our son being on summer vacation. Maybe I'm just too much of a wuss in my old age (mid 30s)

Sizzle!!!

Re: It's Too Hot! (Or is it just me?)

Some people handle the heat better than others...that's all.

A shaded site, a place to swim, and a bottle of sun screen keeps us camping even during our scorching summers. This is when the kids are out of school, so we're not going to let a little heat keep us from enjoying some family time when there are no school activities to worry about.

That's why Colorado was annexed into the Union.......for summer Texans.

Yeah winter!!! The best season in Texas Thank god I have a sister in Colorado!

Here's some stuff for the intense heat.

Cool hats and neckties

I use the neck cooler when I go into the woods this time of year. It really helps!

Re: It's Too Hot! (Or is it just me?)

It's way too hot! I'm thinking about cancelling a camping trip we have planned at Guadalupe SP for the end of this month. I can't wait until the fall! Mid 90's wouldn't be bad, but 100's--alll the time...no way for me. Camping in Colorado would be awesome! which colorado state parks are close to the texas border and worth the drive?

Yeah, we had Inks Lake booked for 3 nights this upcoming weekend but we cancelled. We'll try again towards end of Sept/Oct. I don't mind the heat, but as the previous poster said, 100s is too much!

Re: It's Too Hot! (Or is it just me?)

Too hot for much besides lounging in our backyard (inflatable; nothing fancy--just big enough for kidlet & I or kidlet & Justin) pool under two 8-foot-wide beach umbrellas I bought so we could use our backyard in this crazy-hot weather.

Still trying to bike ride but having to start earlier and earlier and pre-hydrate a lot just to survive the rides (and they're short rides by most cyclists' standards--under 20 miles.) Too.darn.hot, and I've lived here for almost 30 years now. I wasn't alive for the heat wave in the 60s which apparently recorded San Antonio, TX area temps over 100 degrees for several weeks' straight. *ugh*

Re: It's Too Hot! (Or is it just me?)

I was born here and it's to stinking hot for me! We're hanging out at the county park at Medina Lake. It's the only place that we know for sure has water. Campsites are going to be hard to come by when cooler weather gets here!

Re: It's Too Hot! (Or is it just me?)

We are starting to look into the near future and book where we can.

We are originally from So Florida. I tell people we moved to Houston because Miami just wasn't quite hot and sticky enough

Glad to know I'm not alone on this!
