    Hill Country Condo/ Lakehouse/ Resort

We had planned to stay in the cabins at Inks Lake State Park; however, we just realized the cabins do not have a shower or kitchenette like we thought. I know there is a shower/ restroom area, but the other family who is going with us would prefer something less primitive.

Does anyone know of a condo, lakehouse, or resort in the Hill Country area? I found "Log Country Cove" on the internet, but their prices are outrageous!

Our group will have 4 children, ranging in ages from 2 to 8. We would like to hike, paddle boat, canoe, fish, etc. PLEASE HELP!

    Thank you,

    Gulf Coast Gent

You might try Canyon of the Eagles resort. The turn off for this resort is just a few miles east of Inks Lake. Took a look at it a few years ago. Prefer Inks Lake but this one is nice. I know that they have cabins but can't recall how they are equiped. I recall that they did look nice. Have a site:

Texas Hill Country Resorts, Lake Buchanan Family Vacations, Reunions-Canyon of the Eagles

Hope this helps and happy camping!

There are many rental cabin places around Inks and Buchanan, here is a good listing:

    "srds",

Can you tell me more about Willow Point Resort? I have visited their website, but I would like to know more from someone who has actually been there. Are there any hiking or biking areas, wildwife, etc? Can you rent canoes and peddle boats?

Have any of you heard of Thunderbird Resort?

If you were to choose between this area and Garner State Park, which one would you choose?

    Thanks for all the help!

We enjoyed our stay at Willow Point and look forward to going back. Some great fishing and not too far from Damn area .We caught crappie and catfish.Swimming area was perfect for kids and they had canoes and row boats to use-no charge.I don't remember paddel boats but Dd says that did have 3.Cabins were great and comfy ,we were right on the water ,and deer came around all day long. They also had some huge white geese that would eat out of your hands.Owners are super nice and make sure your happy. The placement of the cabins made sure you had plenty of elbow room.We had our bikes and mainly rode around the general area but no regular trails, plenty of walking room.Nice and quiet at night with beautiful view of the lake.We had a wedding to attend to on that trip so we did'nt get to spend as much time as I wanted to there.Cabins are very spacious and have all amenities.Be sure and go to wineries for thier tours and wine testing,Falls Creek is awesome.

No, I haven't been to Thunderbird Resort I now where its at,thats all.

You are asking a tricky question,Garner are Hill country around Inks Lake area they are both great areas. Are you planning on staying at Garner in cabins ?You have to experience Garner at least 1 time, the dances, swimming in ice cold water in the summer,All the kids having fun, some of the best camping in Texas.

Inks area is also awesome, been going there since I was 5.I get to go at least 6-7 times a year because of family and friends in Hill country.

I think you need to make plans for both,To hard of a choice for me.

I would choose Garner over Inks lake, although we stay annually at both. Inks Lake is 'easier' to get ressies for though.

There's more to do AT Garner -- I can just be happy tubin' down the river all day and going to the Pavilion at night. Maybe DS & I will play a little miniature golf or go hiking. At Inks there's stuff to do IN Marble Falls/Burnet, but not much to do at the park besides hiking, swimming, and canoeing.

Course this is just my opinion!
