Heading to the Frio for New Year's holiday

We will be leaving early Saturday morning to stay at a resort during this trip but the bikes are going along for some rides at Garner during the day. Thank goodness for park passes. It is nice to really be able to see the park nearly empty and be able to notice the landscape of the park instead of the people. Anyone gonna be there, let me know and we will stop by for a hello. Husband taking his suit for his annual dip in the Frio on New Year's Eve. Crazy!

Happy Trails to you'll. We sure miss that part of that country, but we are not able to be around that time.

Have fun at the Frio. We'll be at South Llano. There will be no intentional swimming this trip. Happy New Year!

We will be at home in San Antonio, but with you all in spirit! Well, except for the dips in the Frio and South Llano... BRRR! I nearly froze Sara's feet off dipping them into the Gulf of Mexico during our earlier December trip to Corpus Christi!

Re: Heading to the Frio for New Year's holiday

Well, we're back! We stayed down the road from Garner at some cabins that our friends own. It is a must for us each New Years holiday. No crowds and the weather is always beautiful during the day and COLD at night. We had a huge campfire the entire time. We went to Garner two times and it was nice to have undisturbed bike riding. We decided the park was between five and eight per cent full. Not many folks at all, but more than in the past. It seems that the Frio is becoming a favorite destination during Christmas and New Years, according to the locals. Even the teenagers like it at this time. The river was icy as always but it did not stop the Camp Live Oak Polar Bears from jumping in. (I have pictures and also some sense.) Have a save and peaceful 2008, YALL.
