You can rent canoes, kayaks and tubes at www.guadalupecanoelivery.com.

It's at the river and Hwy 281. I have parked my vehicle there and they dropped us off at Guadelupe State Park. Nice folks there and they are very accommodating.

If you're looking for other parks which rent canoes, Inks and Lake Mineral Wells offer canoes. During the summer, South Llano, Guadalupe, and Garner offer other items for rent, like tubes. That canoe livery, with the valet service sounds great! Just check the water level before planning the route, you don't want to "portage" half of your trip.

The San Marcos offers nice canoeing, the college rents canoes, I don't know if you need to be a student or not, it's worth a try. I took canoeing as a PE, years ago. It's a beautiful river.

A zillion years ago I used to work at that park. One of the funnest jobs I ever had. Didn't pay enough to live on though.. GRSP gets busy on holidays and weekends, so keep that in mind. I was going to recommend the canoe livery at 281, but someone already has. I THINK they also have stuff at the park. I've only been there once in the past few years, and I took my own kayak. Fished a little and stopped for lunch. Made the trip from the park in 4-5 hours. Didn''t see much of anyone but the group I was with until we hit the crossing. From there on were tubers. There weren't so many to make the trip hazardous to anyone (tubes and hooks just don't belong together!). I'd like to make that trip again, but fish more along the way.

I just got through reading some of Shannon's exploits at GRSP.

Let me echo something she said - Don't leave your trash behind for someone else. That was one of my jobs - walk up and down the river picking up the stuff people left behind. What a waste of my time and your money. And the worst time of the year? Easter Weekend. I'm happy for the park that the weather will be less than desirable for most people. The place might look decent come Monday morning.
