Going to Garner this weekend

We've only camped with the in-laws once and it rained. I am bringing an extra tarp and umbrella to ward off the rain. Weather should be great.

Re: Going to Garner this weekend

Whoa, what a great weekend. We arrived about 2pm and got #348 in New Garner. There was a trail from the back of the site, right down to the river. You could hear the water over the dam from the tent ( when someone's radio wasn't playing).

Once we were finished with setting up, we drove to the rock beach to enjoy the rope swings. There were several. We found once suitable for a 7 YO and played for 30 minutes or so. We returned to the site for hot dogs and Mac n cheese. It was still daylight so we walked down to our stretch of river and swam. Just as it was getting dark, I heard some doors slamming up the hill and assumed it was the in laws. We got up there and helped them with their tent. The park was buzzing with people arriving. The trailer on one side of us had a fire going, lantern, candles, lights on the rig, and radio going. The couple were inside! ARGH. Just before 10, they hooked up their rig and drove off, leaving everything behind. I walked over and turned off the radio, which could be heard 4 sites down. We could barely hear each other talking 3 feet away. They returned and didn't say a thing. I asked in the morning about them leaving. They needed to dump and didn't want to drag the little blue poop cart. To each his own.
We slept in til about 9, made breakfast, then headed down to the river. Grampa fished, catching a 2# bass and a small fish. Gramma sat of the rocks and at the dam with us. We build dams all dam day. The rocks are rough so my seat, and knees are skinned up. I'm also missing skin from all my fingertips. With the pain of the fingers, I couldn't do dishes, but I could build more dam today.
We had steak and pork chops, mashed potatoes, salad and corn for dinner. The park was much more subdued as most folks were tired from swimming all day. Kiddo had a bit of a cranky melt-down. We all woke up sore, but in a better mood after a restful night sleep.
Grammpa and Gramma helped us break camp after breakfast. They left but we went swimming, leaving the truck parked in our empty site til 2. Those 4 hours without sunscreen are something I am regretting now.
The inlaws were very happy with how much fun they had and were wondering when we were going again. They were also eyeing the travel trailers nearby.
