Day 6 and 7 we are to spend 2 nights on the west side and explore the west area of the park, for the view when its clear, you can not beat the view of Lake McDonald from the Village Inn at Apgar. We were in the motor inn and the front faced the lake. Room had one bed, a chest, couple chairs, a closet and a full bathroom. Some rooms have kitchens and some have extra beds.
The rain started early and hard, we tried to hit a small local trail but could tell we didn't have the right rain gear for this type of rain. We took the park shuttle up to Lake McDonald lodge, to further take in the lodge, ate lunch there and watched it rain harder. Tried to walk around under the trees but that wasn't working, took the shuttle back to Apgar Village, were able to walk around some before giving up. Had dinner in West Glacier at the Highlander Restaurant, good service and food, did some shopping then returned to try to do some hiking, but it was still raining. Took a drive to the Huckleberry lookout but between the rain and the mosquiots (first time they really were out) ended up just sightseeing. Decided didn't need to get soaked hiking on the last full day.
Still a very nice park that we we will be back to, for scenery it is really something. Day 7 was late breakfast and a plane ride via Salt Lake to DFW.
