Fort Richardson March 2009

We drove to Jacksboro on Friday to stay until Sunday. The shelter's looked nice so we upgraded. There were some re enactment guys there for the weekend practicing drills and cleaning their guns. We walked around but only say 1/2 of the buildings since the others were locked. We were heading back for lunch when a ranger ( the one in the picture) asked if we saw everything. I said no, we would like to see the hospital. So, have gave us a private tour. Another ranger came in when he noticed the door wide open and we all chatted for more than an hour.

We spend time hiking the grounds, hiking near the campsite, rumbling spring trail, and fishing at Quarry lake. The weather wasn't nice and I didn't feel like unloading all the kitchen gear to cook, then clean up. We ate in town. It was a neat place to visit.

Nice job, we really like the park also, did you view the bike/hike trail that crosses the road out of the park to the swim lake?

The trail is nice and its about 10 miles long if you don't want to bike or hike its a short drive to the lake.

Re: Fort Richardson March 2009

We did not bring the bikes this trip. My brakes need some work.
