Actually this is not a Park! This is just a big rock with a boat ramp and 2 docks that are about to fall apart. If you look to damage your boat or injure yourself then these docks are perfect.
As much money the county makes on this rock you would think you would get some nice docks and facilities in return.
I suggest Goat Hill Camp (not listed), best of all for camping/pleasure is Pop's Place, Great food and docks RED's COVE!

I'll look into finding some info on Goat Hill Camp -- never heard of it before. Medina Lake is one of the lakes with very limited public access points (unlike Canyon Lake, for example), so your comments are well-founded and no surprise. It's difficult to enjoy Medina, even though the lake is gorgeous (particularly from the air -- Justin and I fly over it routinely en route to other locales) and has a good following among boaters.

I am the park chairman of James Anderson Park, which is located in the same cove as the county park. If you look to the left when you enter the county park you will see our park. It is approximately 35 acres and is being developed as we speak. It is a private park owned by the San Antonio Police Officers Benevolent Fund. We are experiencing problems from people who wander over to ourside and wonder how to become a member. Its only for Benevolent Fund members and their immediate families. If i can i would like to put out flyers so they will know that it is private property. Please let me know if you need any futher info.

Guest, you should probably contact the City of Bandera to see about them posting signs or allowing you to post flyers/signage to make it clear that your park is member's only.

I too would love to spend more time at Medina but find it difficult to do so. To much riff raff at the county park. Joe's Marina charges too many fees. Too few other access points. This lake has so much potential but just isn't user friendly.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Public access at Medina Lake is challenging. I go boating every weekend at Medina and got frustrated with the boat launch facilities. I now rent a marina slip, and this is the only way to go. The State Park has the best quality made boat ramp, but there are so many people who simply do not understand the basics of launching a boat. Joe's place is too crowded, Red's is a dirt ramp with rocks and people are always getting stuck.

Do you rent your slip from Bob's Cove Marina? I have always used the county park to launch.
Anyone have much luck fishing Medina?

My boyfriend and best friend tied for 2nd place about 3 weeks ago at the friday night tourn. I guess you just have to go w/ a person that knows the fishing spots, but i've always done great out there w/ them! We always launch at Red's, and have always had 4 wheel drive, but only needed it once to get unstuck after launching. You just cant be a douce and know how to launch a boat.

Overnight camping at Pop's PLace or Joe's Marina. I recommend Pop's place because they have nice grass/sand beach & mud (NO ROCK)/Picnic Tables/BBQ Pits, Bar & Grill (Down fall bar stays open till 2).

There is an off road park that we like to visit near this lake.
We have been interested in trying to find information on camping places in the area. Camping area would consist of bathroom facility and child friendly. Any thoughts???
This area of Texas is so pretty!
