Re: Discuss: Medina Lake Parks
Thousand Trails has a wonderful RV resort on Medina Lake. The park, with full and partial hookups (on the lake), as well as extended stay area, is full of trees, tame deer, visiting ducks and birds. It is family friendly with pool, mini-golf, playscapes, fishing docks, boat ramps, bike and hike trails, family and adult activity centers.
You may visit for 3 days/2 nights free to check it out. You do have to listen to their sales spiel, but you can always say, "hey, thanks, but no." If you like it, you can find memberships being sold by members and you will save big bucks.
This post is for informational purposes only. I warn you that we joined at Medina Lake because it is so pretty. Not all the TT resorts are as pretty.
Medina Lake is beautiful and I did not even know it exisited until last year. Fishing, boating, swimming and the most beautiful sunsets in Texas.
Visit Journeys 2005 on my web if you want to see some pictures.

Re: Discuss: Medina Lake Parks
I grew up and now live at Medina Lake. My parents moved into Pebble Beach in 1975, they have no public access to the lake. I love were I live but over the years here in Lakehills more rif raf have moved in. People don't realize that both Lakehills and Mico are more retirement communites and over the years the people that did own the nice parks have passed on. There are several Marines that are very nice in the Mico area but not in the Lakehills area due to most of the land is privately owned. Goat Hill Camp is nice but is very run down. I agree the County Park is a disgrace to our county and can be improved but every time an improvement is made rif raf destroy it. James Anderson park is very nice but is closed to the public (which is good) at least part of the lake will stay beautiful. Bob Cove run down and the road to it is very narrow and to far off the main road. Goat Hill camp owners is very nice but site is very run down. Scenic Harbor is in Elm Creek cove and when the lake goes down the cove goes empty. Thousand Trails very nice but very pricey to become a member. Thats about it for all the big areas but there are small areas that are very nice too. Don't forget the Cajun Fest the 4th sat in September the money goes to our community center.

Re: Discuss: Medina Lake Parks
Hello All,
I just moved to the NW area of SA and I've always wanted to go cast a line at Medina. I've drove around it a couple of times trying to find that sweet spot where you can fish from the bank, and not get run off at night. I'm looking for a decent spot where you can bank fish, enjoy snacks, and fish all night; but it seems impossible at Medina. That's a shame since it's a stunning lake. Like I said, I've driven up and down and saw nothing but private property with barbed wire fences blocking the lake side. The few spots that offered any fishing access were heavily controlled, offered a small fishing area, and would run you off by the end of the afternoon. Does anyone know of that great fishing spot, because I would sure love to know. Any advice or knowledge of the lake would be greatly appreciated. I usually go to Calaveras and I absolutely love it, but with the gas rate inflation; I would like to be closer to the homestead. I just renewed my license, and would like to use it soon! Thanks guys for any help that you offer!!

Re: Discuss: Medina Lake Parks
Bob's Cove is closest to Castroville if you want to launch on Medina Lake.
Fishing places on Medina Lake.
Canoers and kayakers on Medina River.
Below the dam are little family owned places where you can spend the day and fish, swim, etc. I do not remember any of the names, but it you just wind around the Old Medina Dam Road, Lower Lake Road and Rio Medina road, you will find them.
Its a gorgeous lake and it is FULL.
