Exclamation The Answer...

Courtesy of the U.S. Geologic Survey, the answer appears to be:

Latitude 291217N, Longitude 0945758W. Click on the link to go to the results page of the search I did on their database for more info.

If you need other sources to compare to these readings for verification, visit Google.com's results for a search on "latitude and longitude -- that's how I found the link to the U.S. Geologic Survey's latitude and longitude search page.

Good luck on your report!

Sincerely,

- Shannon

Re: Discuss: Galveston Island State Park

March is a transitional month between winter and spring here on the coast. You could get cold, blustery wintery winds or the day could be calm, warm and sunny. Or you could have both.
Bugs won't be a problem (too early). Pesky seagulls could be a problem if you try to feed them. If you make the mistake and try to feed them, they'll never leave you alone. And they'll drop their calling card on you too.
You should have plenty of company from the spring break crowd. But the beaches are well patrolled and the rowdies tend to go across to Bolivar Peninsula.
Enjoy your visit to the Texas Gulf Coast.

Re: Discuss: Galveston Island State Park

My son and I were there back in September. We found the mosquitos to be problematic on the bay side of the park. Thank goodness for Off. But the gulf side, where the camping is located, was windy enough that we were unaware of them.

You are aware that the Galveston beaches are not the prettiest on the Gulf Coast, I hope. The water is very muddy as a result of the Mississippi River outflow.

Otherwise, enjoy your visit to our part of the state.

Re: Discuss: Galveston Island State Park

Well, during spring break the short answer would be "Party Animals".

Actually there's an alcohol ban on most of the beaches so it's a fairly tame and family friendly place. The heavy partiers go over to Bolivar. I didn't want to leave the impression that Galveston was like South Padre Island during spring break.
