Yesterday we drove to Choke Canyon State Park to spend the night and a day or so. We found the park closed due to bad water or whatever. Why didn't the tpw put a sign on the highway telling prospective campers instead of letting everyone make the drive and then be disappointed. Someone goofed.

We've camped Choke Canyon-Calliham unit on three occasions. Great park, but yeah, that 11 mile stretch from Three Rivers only to find it's closed would be a bummer! More of a bummer now that the swimming pool has been closed.

According to the TPWD website, only the Calliham unit has no potable water. South Shore unit is unaffected.
