Dinosaur Valley SP

We went up to Dinosaur Valley SP last weekend for our first time there. It is a very nice park and has great dinosaur tracks in 4 areas along the Paluxy River. All the camping is elec/water, nice fire pits, tables, although in the crowded season they do seem to be a little on top of one another. The beauty of camping in February, of course I got up early Saturday morning to find the outside thermometer reading 17degrees!

The dinosaur tracks in the park are in 4 locations, and all 4 have something different for the dinosaur track explorer.
The 1st site is the "Blue Hole". It is difficult to get to, my son loved the climbing and once you get down to the track, it truly is awe inspiring to know 105million years ago a dinosaur walked right where you are standing. Great track.

The 2nd site is much more developed and easier access to the river. This is the location where track were removed and taken to the History museum in New York. Lots of tracks here.

The 3rd site is up on a bluff, with no access truly down the the river, but you can climb down if you want, but the tracks are right there.

The 4th site is not marked, and to me it is the best site by far, you have to find it. It is near the campgroudn and the mouth a small crek that runs into the Plauxy. WOW. Is all I can say, these tracks are amazing in this area.

The TPWD is not doing anything along the river to save these tracks, as Mother Nature is doing to them what it did to all the layers above them over time as the river cuts it's path. Go see them soon, maybe not soon, but in another 100years, they'll be gone.

Enjoy the Journey,
