Dinasaur Valley

Just saw a mention of this park, and wanted to give everyone a heads up. Most of the tracks are eroding, now that they are exposed. I took my kids there 12-15 years ago, and then recently, and they are much fainter now (the tracks - not my grown-up kids). So...if you like that kind of thing, you need to go see them while they are still visible.

There is camping and there are hiking and bike trails there - no lake. The Paluxy was way down then (before the recent floods), and I don't know if there was camping directly on the river anyway.

If you wanted to camp on a lake, Glen Rose is not very far from Cleburne State Park. You could go there on the way to camping, or the way back, or as a short day trip. There is also Fossil Rim Wild Animal Park at Glen Rose, which I have only visited for a 5K Cheetah Run.

Re: Dinasaur Valley

We stayed at Cleburne back over New Year's with visits to Fossil Rim and Dino Valley. Had a great time at both. Only downside to Dino Valley we saw was $25 per night for a water-electric site. Somewhat steep IMO as it closely rivals that of commercial CG's.

Re: Dinasaur Valley

We went up to Dinosaour Valley SP last February. It was fantastic since we had the park to ourselves. It was our 1st visit and we found the tracks amazing!
But you are quite right, I would imagine in another 10 years that the tracks will be gone. And yes, I seem to recall it being on the $$$ side for a state park. Funny, how the amount is different from state park to state park.
