Cedar Hill State Park in Cedar Hill, TX is a great place to escape the hustle and bustle of Big D. Just 10 miles SW of Dallas, at times you seem isolated, not sure how they do that

Remarkebly quiet considering where its located.
Although sites in Lake view, Eagle Ford and Shady Ridge (sites 1 - 212) are much closer to a road where you can hear traffic. Sites near Penn farm and at Coyote Crossing are away from city noise.
Cedar Hill State Park is all about fishing and boating in Joe Pool Lake. Birdwatching, mountain bikers and hikers can relax by exploring the park's trails. There are fishing piers, a marina and boat ramps.
Cedar Hill State Park has 355 sites (yikes it big) with water and electric. CAUTION many are too small for big trailers as this is an older park.
Not much day shade for trailers ( see the slide show ) Lots of shaded picnic tables though
Slideshow of pictures, photos, and videos, from webshots
You can also learn about local Texas history by touring the Penn Farm Agricultural Center.
Lots of wildflowers (see the show) in April of 2008.
Nice and close and if you want to stay south of Dallas this is a big place. Great for tenters and families. We had a good time at the annual expo had some dutch oven cooking. yum
