Question Camping at Renaissance Festival - any tips?

I have never tried camping with my kids at the RenFest (the one near Magnolia, TX). I have heard the campground at the RenFest is adult-oriented. What about other campgrounds in the area? Interested in any advice you can offer.

Re: Camping at Renaissance Festival - any tips?

I thought about this a couple of years ago. If you google (I think) "Renaissance Festival Board" you will find some to join where you can find answers to your questions from the people that camp ALL the time.

Here's what I learned: there is a 'family' CG up towards the front and an 'adult' one with a bonfire towards the back. There are no hookups -- just port-a-potties. The noise from the adult area can be loud and go on all night long. There can be drunken fights.

Theses facts caused me to reconsider camping there w/my son; not because I was afraid for my safety (I think there are police on site) but because I didn't think my son needed to possibly be exposed to such things.

However, if you join one of those boards, you might find it's changed. I think they also charge a small fee per night to camp. You can check on the Renaissance Festival website for that information.

Can not help directly but Tomball may be a place to check if they are not full already and happybooker posted a review. Tomball is around 12 miles away so close but far
