Time for a review since I've been myself now........actually just got back a few hrs ago:
Easily navigable park!
There are only 2 bathrooms in the whole park (and only one of them has showers in it, but the water is HOT). We stayed 4 days and loved the solitude til the weekend came, so bathrooms got a bit crowded, but it was still ok. They have a wonderful pier to fish from and offer lake tours right there onsite also.
The sites are fairly well spaced, but they are adamant about putting your tent on the pad despite it being too large to fit the 16x16 pad....the say "just let it hang over"....I found a site under construction w/no pad yet, so they let me use it, thankfully. The hiking trails are nicely laid out and better than I expected, too. Beware of a train that runs about a mile from the SP cuz it does run all night long and if you are a light sleeper, you'll hear it every time it crosses the intersection (6 times nightly)---heard it less each night cuz I slept better each night than the previous one...LOL! It rained hard the 2nd night out, but we stayed bone dry in our $70 coleman 17x10 red canyon tent cuz I seam sealed it & sprayed it with silicone spray.
The rangers and park host are fabulous and bend over backwards to see that you have a good time---park host took my DS fishing numerous times. All in all, a nice place and I recommend it highly, especially during weekdays.
