C'mon Texas Hikers

O.K. this is the best site I have seen for Texas Hiking.
I am guilty of not visiting enough and will work on changing that.
I have over the years visited most (or at least a lot) of Texas' State Parks and National Forest. I have always tried to find out information and have had a hard time. You can read all the books you want but an interactive forum is a much better place to get your info.
I know when I go somewhere I have not been I have many questions that I would love to have answered by someone who has recently been there.
Hey this site is Texas not the "Southwest" covering Ca. to La.
Perhaps we would all be better served making an effort to use it more?

Thanks for the "call to the keyboard", copuswalker! Yes, it can feel mighty lonely in here at times, but it's not for a lack of interest in Texas if my site's logfiles are any indication. I agree that word of mouth about parks is always "fresher" and more relevant than something sitting in a dusty guidebook on the shelf. For one thing, parks and conditions change over time -- the secluded oasis of 5-10 years ago can become the "best avoided except on weekdays" park of the present, as you no doubt have experienced during your tenure as a Texas hiker.

At the risk of diverting folks from WildTexas.com, we are not the only site dedicated to Texas hiking and parks. If you've never checked it out, do take a look at TexasHiking.com. We're not affiliated with the site, but it's another useful FREE resource out there for Texas hikers and outdoors enthusiasts. Just don't forget to visit us, too!
