Hi Guys, The wife and I are planning a February trip to BBSP. We hope to reserve a screen shelter. Anyone have any Feb experience with this park? I see on the TexBirds list that there seem to be some rare birds in the area this month and it has many birders visiting. Is the park generally full of snowbirds and birders this time of year? If so we may choose another location. We often go to Garner in Feb as we have the place almost to ourselves (comparitive to other times of year). Anyway, looking for a great weekend without HUGE crowds, suggestions appreciated. Thanks.
We've only been for a few nights at a time during the past 2 spring breaks. There were many families there during that time. February should be quiet. It is a pretty park with lots of wildlife. Beware of alligators. If you don't get a shelter, find a site in the 100's loop. The sites are bigger and more spread out. Friends of ours may be hosting there for the spring. They are super sweet. The nature center has some interesting snakes and other exhibits. If you like to ride bikes, it's a good park for that.
Charcoal is a spice, dirt is a condiment, and there is no 3 second rule.
The raccoons are bad there. We had the coolers in the shelter and they tried to tear open the screens. We met a couple who said they were regulars and ALWAYS feed the coons. Not a good idea.![]()

Get ready for lots of hiking! BBSP has many great trails. Start at the nature center, take a look at all of the bird binders, chat with the volunteers and make your first trail the 0.5 mi Creekfild Nature Trail. A must see is the Observation Tower at 40 Acre Lake, start at Elm Lake and remember to watch the low areas along Spillway Trail.

TPWD: Brazos Bend State Park
Please tell us how your stay was.
We're heading out to Brazos Bend this Sunday for the day. We've never been before. We plan to hike, fish and picnic. Basically just bum around and have a nice leisurely day. Hope to see lots of Gators!
I am going back to hike for the 3rd time this month! Great trails, lots and lots of wildlife and the gators are breeding, so you see them aplenty. I hope to get in at least 10 miles tomorrow.
I hiked 10 miles of trails inside BBSP yesterday and I'm still tired. it got up to about 80 degrees and I'm still in the 50 degree mode.
