I tried booking on Reserve America several sites with water/elec. Reserve America wouldn't take my reservation when it said 1 site left on 2 different choices of nights. RA said 'contact the park' as my reservation did not meet their park criteria. The girl I talked to said if there was only one site available on RA they were probably booked up as RA's site wasn't real time updated.

However, when I booked at Dinosaur Valley SP, it said 1 site left & I got it.

I went back to RA & tried booking a 50amp site at Galveston for that night. RA said 5 available. But still no go.

So is the problem with RA or Galveston SP?

maybe a communication problem between the two. I would go by what the park says--not RA. If you can get a voice at the SP, that is probably your best source of info, although sometimes they will cop the old, "well you hafte go through RA for that..."

Not to long ago I called Copper Breaks and Caprock Canyon. Whichever one of these is in Quanah said that they frequently have issuses with RA listing their park as full, when it is not. He said it's a shame, people won't come to their park because they won't take the time to call the park directly, and their visitation suffers. When in doubt, call the park. That way you can ask questions of the people who know the park best.

Funny how they say that but you cannot make reservations at the park unless it is two days before arrival? It seems to me the system worked a lot better when you called the parks direct. They know the park where as the central system may as well be in India :confused:
